Earthback is a community platform for people doing green building, sustainable construction, food systems, off-grid energy, mutual aid, and related work. We are operated by Earthback Project and organized as a community governed by the Earthback Core Constitution.
By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms.
To participate fully, you create an account with a name and email address. You're responsible for keeping your account secure. Don't share your login link. If you think your account has been compromised, email us immediately.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Earthback. If you're creating an account on behalf of an organization, you're representing that you have authority to do so.
You own what you post. When you share content on Earthback — project posts, technique descriptions, resource listings, comments — you keep ownership of it. You give Earthback a limited license to display and distribute that content within the platform, but that's it.
We don't sell your content to third parties. We don't use it to train AI models for others. We don't repurpose it for advertising.
You're responsible for making sure what you post is accurate, doesn't infringe someone else's rights, and doesn't violate these terms.
Earthback is a community of practice — people doing real work. We expect members to:
The full community expectations are in our Safety & Trust guidelines.
Violations can result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban depending on severity.
We work hard to keep Earthback running reliably, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. We may occasionally need to take the platform down for maintenance. We'll communicate planned outages in advance when possible.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice to members.
Earthback is provided as-is. We're not liable for disputes between members, outcomes of projects coordinated through the platform, or losses resulting from platform downtime. We facilitate coordination — we're not a party to the projects themselves.
To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months (which for most members is $0, since Earthback is free).
If we update these terms in a meaningful way, we'll notify members by email and post the changes on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Disputes will be resolved through good-faith discussion first; failing that, through binding arbitration.
Questions about these terms? Email us at earthbackproject@gmail.com. We actually read it.
